A successful end for Engaged in Equality
Engaged in Equality celebrated on Friday, January 12, the final event of the project at Paral·lel 62 – Club P62, Barcelona. About seventy people attended the space to conclude the European project in which three Catalan educational centers have been involved in the last two years, with the aim of working on the new masculinities and the prevention of sexist violence among teenagers.
Pupils and teachers from the Salvador Dalí Institute in El Prat de Llobregat, the Caterina Albert Institute in Barcelona and the Baix Montseny Institute in Sant Celoni have done training and workshops to obtain and offer tools for the detection of toxic relationships, attitudes racist, homophobic or discriminatory in general.
Precisely these topics were chosen by the students themselves, since they are part of the daily life that affects any school, and they are the main reason for the videos created and starred by the participants. They were able to talk about the experience at the final event in a gathering in which personal evolution and transformation from equity was highlighted.
At the end of the project, Jim Gómez, winner of the 3cat Euphoria competition in the 2023 edition, performed. From Granollers, the singer made the audience vibrate and resonated with the participants. The students, from diverse backgrounds, have been trained in audiovisual production techniques and have been trained with a gender perspective, in addition to providing training to other students. Last November, they also traveled to Florence to share the experience with students from other countries, who have also taken part in the European project.
The project ended this January, although given its strategic success in equality education, the Department of Equality and Feminism of the Generalitat will this year train primary and secondary teachers to adapt the content and teach them to more students.
