Women, Integration and prison. Analysis of the
processes of socio-labour integration of women in prison
in Europe. (2002-2005)
European project within the Fifth Framework Program
“Improvement of the base of socio-economic knowledge”
The concrete objectives of the project were:
To do a normative analysis about the adequacy of concepts
as Social Integration, Social Exclusion for the group of
women prisoners.
To develop a comparative study about the reality of the
women in the European prisons and about the efficiency of
the social and penitentiary policies to promote their
socio-labour integration.
To identify the key factors: subjective, social and
institutional that impact on the situation of deprivation
of freedom of women, and analyze their interaction and
effects in the processes of socio-labour integration.
To contribute to the design and development of social and
penitentiary policies directed to improve the socio-labour
integration of women.
