WORK METHODOLOGY

SURT’s work methodology is centered around flexible guidance plans, training and insertion which allow us to respond to the needs and demands of the women, always stemming from them taking an active part. In this context, the organization’s activity makes sense as a support-assistance to the process decided upon and put into place by the women, acting at the same time as a tool of mediation between the women and the job market into which they want to incorporate themselves.

To implement this methodology, from the organization, numerous specific tools and materials have been developed for the practical application of the focus on abilities and the gender perspective in all the programs and activities held. In particular, the following tools have been produced:

Employability Analysis Tool
Scale of Abilities
Crossover Abilities Self-Evaluation Tool

This methodology, developed from years of work experience with women, is held up by five axes:

Definition of the Professional Project
To favor the woman defining and carrying out her own professional project is the axis that holds up the journey to insertion. The element which identifies a project is the definition of final and concrete objectives; this is why the work methodology puts emphasis on motivating and stimulating the ability to establish challenges and objectives stemming from the alternatives available, respecting the complete leadership of the woman in the decision making.

Employability Analysis
The objective of the analysis is that the woman be able to identify those elements that affect her employability in a significant way—positive or negative. These elements are the impacting factors that can be structural, personal and abilities-related. The employability will indicate her position regarding a particular occupation in that exact moment.

Abilities Development
The abilities factors or professional capabilities represent a key element in articulating the chances of employability. According to the model used by SURT, professional capabilities are defined as an integrated and complex whole of work knowledge, abilities, skills, and performance taken in a wide sense, that play their part in completing a certain work activity. The activities defined in the professional project are directed at improving those abilities that have been identified as weak points in order to reach the work objective. Developing her capital of abilities, the woman, at the same time, will expand her work possibilities.

Tutorial support throughout the whole process including assistance at the place of employment.
Personalized assistance through tailored tutorial sessions throughout the whole definition and development of the insertion process is included in all programs.
The tutor encourages reflection, makes the integration of new abilities and things learned easier, favors the making of decisions through taking the existence of other alternatives into consideration. Tutorial activities can be in a groups or one-on-one. The latter concentrate on bringing to a close the work done in groups. In this case, the group dynamic allows for a time when they can exchange with other women, which acts as a change-emphasizing, motivating element

For the implementation of this methodology, the organization has developed general tools and specific materials for the practical application of the approach of competences and gender perspective  in all  programs and actions being developed. In particular, the tools that have been elaborated are the following:

· Tool of analysis of employability
· Balance of Competences
· Tool of auto evaluation of cross-sectional competences
